Scriptwriter
Refilwe was co-scriptwriter for the 2011 South Africa 48-hour Film Project movie: Unhinged, which made it to the top 15.
She has written the stage play: The Will, which was invited for a reading at the Market Theatre.
Radio Host
At Kurara FM, Refilwe has presented the Saturday breakfast show (6h00 to 9h00); co-hosted a sports show on Saturdays (15h00 to 18h00); co-presented the weekly afternoon drive (15h00 to 18h00) and hosted the weekdays Sunshine Drive (12 to 15h00) at Kurara FM.
She was on a female presenter search at Jozi FM (DStv Audio Channel 178). Out of 20 female presenters, she made it to the top three. For a week, she co-hosted the Ghetto Radio show, Monday to Friday 12h00 to 15h00 (2014).
On Talk Radio 702, Refilwe was producer and presenter of a 20-minute Fridays evening segment called ‘What’s On’ on ‘Night Talk with Aubrey Masango’. She spoke to listeners about what’s going on in the South African entertainment and art scene in Johannesburg. She also interviewed guests in studio, such as SA musician Anatii and Lesedi Job, award-winning theatre practitioner and stage director, among others.
TV Host
For television, she has presented on SABC 3 for a programme called New Day with Pastor Ray McCauley, as well as on Rhema Television.
Voice-over artist
Refilwe is a Setswana and English voice-over artist. The ads she has voiced have aired on community and national radio stations including Metro FM; Motsweding FM; YFM and Talk Radio 702.
Creator and producer
Refilwe is the creator, co-producer and host of online on YouTube: The Refilwe Thobega Show. She interviewed guests, who ranged from a South African screenwriter, actor, music creator, fashion designer, model and 2016 Miss South Africa first runner-up.

Refilwe has worked for Independent Newspapers as a sub-editor; Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) as Assistant Editor of the South Africa Yearbook and Pocket Guide to South Africa; Media24 as a revise sub-editor and for Primedia Broadcasting’s Eyewitness News an online copy editor.

Hospitality industry
Refilwe’s career started in the hospitality industry. After completing her studies at hotel school, she worked at the Park Plaza Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, as a receptionist and later reservationist, the roles she credits for her people skills, customer service disposition and her ability to accommodate people of different backgrounds from all walks of life.
